Penthouse Introduces 3D Porn

Yeah. You read that right. Penthouse is launching a 3D porn channel in Europe. Good lord I’m scared:

How do you know when a technology has gone from gimmick to cutting edge? When the porn industry adopts it, of course. Penthouse Magazine will launch the first adult 3D high-definition channel in Europe today, a venture dubbed PENTHOUSE 3D. The new channel offers naked programming daily from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. (5 to 11 p.m. Eastern) to satisfy every European’s quest for ooh-la-la.

The article goes on to say that Penthouse hasn’t made it clear whether they have any plans to launch its 3D channel in the United States, but they are gearing up for a significant amount of programming in Europe:

Penthouse 3D will offer 30 hours of new 3D programming every month with content to satisfy the prurient interests of both softcore and hardcore fans in what the company describes as “100 percent Full 3D Native HD.” The channel is available through European satellite provider SES Astra.

Oh and please don’t think Penthouse is going out on a limb here. As the rest of the article points out the porn industry has a long history of being on the cutting edge of new technologies long before the mainstream even understands how it work (think VHS and the internet).

And while 3d isn’t new, it is often perceived as just a gimmick, but with the porn industry getting in the game 3D may be here to stay. Hustler is next up in the 3d porn business in March and Playboy is watching the developments in 3dTV closely.

On a Side Note: Nine inch boobies and DDD size breasts in 3D? I really am scared. 😥
