Design & Features

Doc Johnson has created a vibrator that is very basic. There are none of the added textures or fancy extras for additional stimulation on this one. It is just a bullet-shaped design that is straight and smooth. Although it is advertised as being seven inches long, it is really more like six. The other inch is the piece that opens to replace the batteries and controls the speed. That part is definitely not comfortable on delicate areas.

The Velvet Touch Vibe is fairly small as vibrators go. At only one inch wide, it is that “just right” size that is comfortable, even for those who are inexperienced with toys or that you may want to break in like we did.

Those who have used other, fancier dildos and vibrators (like the Rabbit and Butterfly) will find this one to be far too mundane. If you have played with several toys over an extended period of time, it will probably be too small for your pleasure. It is also very limiting. There is no flared base, so it would be very difficult to incorporate into a harness for strap-on activities. And, the only movement, aside from the vibrating, is what you or your partner are able to do manually.

Materials & Texture

Constructed of phthalates free material, this vibrator is great for people with allergies and sensitive skin. Plus, the outer covering is not that new life-like skin stuff that so many others are made of these days. It is not exactly plastic, and it is not as hard as you would think either. It will not rip, tear, or crack like the others tend to.

Performance & Use

The waterproof design means that it the battery housing is sealed and will not get wet during use. The toy can be used in conjunction with personal lubricants or in the bath or shower. It can also be cleaned easily with just mild soap and warm water. Be sure to dry it well after cleaning to prevent any moisture from getting in the housing/control portion and corroding it.

Its smooth design, gently rounded tip, and slight taper from base to tip make it very simple to insert. It does not cause any friction that other toys might when it is turned on. The advertised variable speeds are really just a dial on the end that is adjusted by twisting left or right to turn it up or down. This works really well when you want to speed up or slow down in mid-use.

Care & Maintenance

This vibrator is very inexpensive to operate and requires only two AA batteries. While this might not sound like much, it provides plenty of usability for quite some time. And, true to other reviews, it has a pretty strong vibration when turned up.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it is a comfortable vibrator, but nowhere near as exciting as others on the market. It is perfect for beginners or those seeking to enter new avenues of pleasure, and it comes in several colors. Other than that, it was pretty tame for a sex toy.

Great For First Timer
Loving It
Bought it for my girlfriend as her first sex toy. She texts this: “Can confirm the reviews, those muscles have never contracted so forcefully before, and I’ve never been so out of control of them before. Good buy”

It’s Good for the Price, but Only for a While
This vibrator is actually the first toy I’ve purchased, so I was looking for something cheap and simple, and I came across this. On arrival, I was nowhere near disappointed. It arrived pretty timely and came looking beautiful. The finish is smooth and silky, a lot softer than I initially thought it would be. The color was very pretty too, (rose pink) so this is really not hard to look at. (A lot prettier than some other traditional vibrators I’ve seen, that’s for sure!) The size is pretty decent, too, about 7 inches long and probably around an inch in diameter. But for this toy, I really wouldn’t recommend inserting it, because it’s made of a hard nonflexible plastic, but for clitoral stimulation, it’s pretty much perfect!

Old Faithful
Not bad! Inexpensive, but good quality. Actually does feel velvety. Pretty quiet. Haven’t turned it all the way up yet, but it’s doing just fine. I can’t think of anything that I’d change. Haven’t used it long enough to gauge battery consumption. I would recommend it.

First Toy
Ok I love this vibrator. It is my first sex toy. easy to use and clean. the one issue it has its a little loud but no louder than a cell phone vibration.

Miss Kittens
Smooth texture, strong vibrations
First “real” vibrator I’ve ever purchased and owned. So far, it’s great! My boyfriend and I love to play with it when we fool around. The only bad thing is the cap is difficult to get on with batteries in it, and you have to screw it REALLY tight for it to work- which means it’s a little hard to get off to take the batteries out for storage. But it is also the perfect length to put a condom on and tie off for easy cleanup, super fun to use, and the highest vibrations are very strong. Definitely worth the price!
