Design & Features

This California Exotics strap-on comes with an average 7-inch long dildo that is only 1 1/2-inches wide in the base. This is actually the most standard size and thickness available and just what the majority of folks find comfortable for very long term use.

Additionally, because it is much less thick, the Red Rider is fantastic for use in “virgin areas” or being a break-in toy. As earlier mentioned, the harnesses that strap to your body are sturdy and not too wide. This makes them comfortable on multiple physiques.

There’s an upwardly curving design that is ideal for hitting the g-spot (or perhaps the p-spot, if you’re so inclined!). The dildo is removable, so you can take it out for cleaning or substitute it for your other favorite dildos.

It comes with an additional pocket that was designed to hold a vibrational device. It is just an awesome extra a large number of folk will love, especially if their current dildo does not vibrate or if they need to use two toys at the same time with the same harness like we did.

Materials & Texture

The Red Rider Strap-On Dildo is a phthalate free, latex free dildo made of PVC. It has a smooth, silky texture that feels great sliding in and out of you. The harness is made of strong resilient Nylon which is (supposed to be) resistant to wear and tear.

The metal o-ring that comes on the harness holds dildos around 1 3/4-inches wide, but even this can be swapped out for a bigger one. The truth is, the harness is sturdy enough to guide a larger dildo when secured in place.

Also, the slight, extra padding located at the front of the harness causes it to be less likely to chaff delicate areas. The harness has one waist and a couple leg harnesses, sewn together in a jock strap design.

They are made from nylon and they are fully adjustable. This means my S.O. and I could both utilize the Red Rider Strap-On Dildo and feel safe and comfortable putting it on.

Performance & Use

The straps adapt to very large sizes, living up to company claims, and will accommodate a 60-inch waist and up to 30-inches per leg, however, they seem a bit smaller than that in the real world.

This discrepancy may just be manufacturing glitches. The Red Rider is constructed of PVC and has an even texture and slides easily against delicate skin, particularly if lubed up.

This strap-on is not made for advanced users or professionals. The truth is, California Exotics markets it as a beginner’s device, which it is. The very simple design does not adapt well to multiple uses (for instance: strapping to the leg) and the harnesses appear like they’ll wear down after repeated, extremely vigorous use.

There was clearly some wear and tear around the edges with the straps after one weekend of repeated use in the house. The pocket for that vibrator had not been stitched particularly well on ours, but it was still very functional. Note any manufacturing defects before you use it, in order to be on the safe side.

Care & Maintenance

The Red Rider is easy to clean using only basic soap and hot water. Be sure to wash and dry it well after each use in order to avoid the nylon from discoloring or developing any unpleasant odors. The Red Rider Strapon Dildo can also be used with water-based or silicone lubricants.

Final Thoughts

The Red Rider is a great strap-on dildo for beginners at an excellent price. While it could be constructed a bit better, the overall quality of the strap-on is great considering its price point. The product arrived quickly and everything was in order. The only problem was that I (a fem) didnt like the dildo that came with it.
